Though I still dislike Catullus in general
Ille mi par esse deo videtur,
ille, si fas est, superare divos,
qui sedens adversus identidem te
spectat et audit
(From 51, his translation of Sappho 31)
He seems to me to be equal to a god,
He, if it is proper, seems to surpass the gods,
He, who sitting near you continually
sees and hears you.
I am not terribly eloquent in translating verse, but I sympathize.
